Errors in Assignment of Titles by Owner

If an owner makes an error when entering information on an Assignment of Title section for the sale of a vehicle, he/she may use a Notarized Affidavit of Correction to correct mistakes such as misspelled names or addresses, transposed numbers, dates, mileage, or selling price. The Notarized Affidavit of Correction should then be submitted, in addition to the assigned Title, for the change of ownership process.

The owner should not submit an assigned Title with corrections manually made on it without the Notarized Affidavit of Correction. A Certificate of Title that has been altered or defaced will be considered void by the Registry and not eligible for the transfer of ownership process.
