Out-Of-State Driving Records

A customer must provide an original certified driving record, no more than 30 days old, if he/she is licensed in Canada, Mexico, or a United States territory and is trying to convert his/her license to a Massachusetts license.

To convert an out-of-state permit to a Massachusetts permit, a customer must provide a certified copy of his/her driving record, no more than 30 days old, from the state that issued his/her permit.

If the driving record indicates that a customer under 18 years of age has had a valid license for a full six months, without suspension or revocation, he/she would not be subject to the JOL passenger restriction.

If the driving record indicates that a customer under 18 years of age has only had his/her license for a portion of the six months, without having been suspended or revoked, the Registrar may credit the customer for that period of time towards the six month JOL passenger restriction.
