A member of the military is not required to renew his/her Massachusetts license during active military service.
If a member of the military has a Massachusetts license that expires during his/her active service, he/she may use that license to operate a motor vehicle for up to 60 days after his/her honorable discharge from military service. If the person chooses to exercise this option, he/she must carry the expired license and proof of discharge when he/she drives. This policy is applicable only to military personnel; it does not apply to their spouses or dependents.
Additional information for military personnel may be found in the Identity section.
